An identity system for myself Meet lil



Brandmark

Iterated with various versions of my name, primarily exploring the modularity of “l” and “i” shapes. I let the interchangable nature of these shapes lead my 2D exploration knowing they would apply well  three dimensionally.


Simplification of letterforms to emphasize on “L” combined with modular system.


3D Application

Created a series of life-size pillows that spell out “lil!”. I knew from the start of this project that the physical application would be the superstar. The modularity of “l” and “i” was just toooooo sweet not to use....


I wanted the heart of this application to be fun, playful, and a bit outrageous. I find it a bit ironic that everyone calls me “Lil,’ yet I am 6”1’ (nowhere near small).

Setting out to make Lily-sized pillows by hand was a challenge. I drafted small-scale models, created patterns, cut & sewed all the fabric, stuffed them, and painted the surface.

“Color maps” are a daily color & design exercise I’ve challenged myself with throughout the years. I used these systems to paint patterns on the pillows’ surfaces.
