A booklet which teaches first-time voters how to vote by absentee ballot in Georgia.

Recent changes to the way absentee voting happens in Georgia makes voting difficult, particularly for first time voters. This new system requires multiple, complicated steps that are unclear when someones first starts the process. In my research, I explored the current absentee application and voting process to determine best method to guide new voters through the steps.

Distributed on college campuses, this brief booklet uses illustrations to target young voters and encourage voting by absentee. The back of the booklet is a sticker, which acts as an incentive to increase engagement with the booklet.

To help eliminate barriers, the booklet first outlines what is needed to vote by absentee.

Then, the booklet clearly outlines the application and ballot processes.

Finally, the reader is left with a reminder about how to check the status of their ballot, and a “I Voted by Absentee” sticker.

Handheld size of booklet allows for ease of distribution on college campuses.

Sticker on back of booklet creates incentive for college students to interact with information.
